Best Superstar X-Factor Abilities for MLB

There are several different factors that come into play when choosing the right Superstar X-Factor Ability for MLB in Madden 23 Franchise Mode.

What offensive playbook are you facing? What user are you facing? What are your weaknesses on defense? These are important questions that you must face when choosing your Superstar X-Factor Ability for MLB.

User players are predictable; we are creatures of habit. If we find that something works then we run with it until it doesn’t. The last thing you want is to have to change your game plan in the middle of a game, however, this is what you want your opponent to do when you are facing him or her.

If your defense is good all around, then we would suggest Shutdown, “Shutdown defenders have the talent to erase receivers from the game. When they enter the zone, their coverage is tighter and interceptions are more frequent on contested catches.”

You could also choose Run Stuffer, “Run Stuffers can singlehandedly disrupt on offense. When they enter the zone, this ability increases their win rate and block shed speed against one-on-one run blocks.” If the opponent has a run-heavy offensive playbook or is just that dominant in the run attack, such as Tennessee or Cleveland, then you could choose this or change to this Superstar X-Factor Ability when facing such opponents.

If you use our Best Playbooks and Schemes for Madden 23 Franchise Mode and you run more of a zone defense, you could go with Zone Hawk, “Zone Hawk defenders lock down a part of the field. When they enter the zone, this ability increases the rate of interceptions while in zone coverage.”

Overall, we would recommend Shutdown if your defense is good all around against the run-and-pass attack. Otherwise, switch between the two depending on your opponent until you can be a well-rounded defense.

Best Superstar Abilities

This is to make sure that you have all of your ducks in a row to get the most out of your MLB and your defense.

First Superstar Ability Slot

If your MLB has low stamina but is extremely talented, we would recommend Recuperation, “Players with this ability will recover from the effects of fatigue at an increased rate between plays.”

The last thing you want is your expensive MLB to be off the field stunting his growth.

Once you can work on your MLBs stamina or if your MLB has good stamina then we would recommend Lurker, “Defenders with this ability can make jumping 180-degree interceptions while lurking in a zone in the middle of the field.”

Since Madden can be a little glitchy, this will take full advantage of that giving your defense an edge.

Second Superstar Ability Slot

You want your MLB to be more of a dangerous player. Someone who can be great against the pass and run. With that said, we recommend Lumberjack, “Defenders with this ability do not allow broken tackles and cause more fumbles when cut-sticking ballcarriers.”

With the mixture of Shutdown, Lurker and Lumberjack your MLB will be an all-around scary linebacker. The ability to defend the pass and make spectacular interceptions as well as forcing fumbles to the ball carrier is a force to be reckoned with.
