Can you have a cheeseburger on keto?

You know, I was thinking the other day. I remember the first time I went to a McDonalds. We were in the back of my aunt and uncle’s big black car and it must have been around 1963. I remember sitting in the back, not being able to see over the seats or out the windows, and eating a McDonalds cheeseburger very carefully so as not to mess up my dress. Of course, I was also careful because each bite was heaven and I didn’t want to drop a bit of that beef patty or a little piece of the American cheese.

It was the first time I can remember having a cheeseburger but I was instantly in love. When I got older my cheeseburger addict dad and I had a standing date every Saturday at the local greasy diner. We always got an order of fries, a cheeseburger, and a chocolate shake. The cheeseburgers were very different then. They were bigger with more beef and they had remarkable in flavor. I don’t know how they did it but most of the cheeseburgers of today just can’t compare.

The carbs and sugars in most cheeseburgers are found in the bun and the condiments. It’s easy to see that a hamburger bun has carbs because it is bread. I prefer to make my own shredded cheese from a block of cheese. The reason is that while, the shredded cheese you find at the supermarket is way easier to use, it has an additive to keep it from clumping into a blob in the bag. It’s usually cellulose. Which is just a fancy word for wood fiber I think. It’s that and it just doesn’t taste the as rich as freshly grated cheese. Granted, it takes a lot more work to grate cheese than to pull out a handful from a bag. My cheese grater of choice is my box grater. It’s super sturdy which is important so I don’t slice my fingers. It’s made by Cuisinart and has a rubber bottom so it doesn’t slide around. The handle is comfortable and makes it easier to control. Best of all, it’s stainless steel so it is easy to clean and doesn’t rust easily.
When you want to grate your own cheese, this Cuisinart box grater will make your life much easier.
