Castro died Friday at his home. A native of Mahanao, Maui, Hawaii, he came to Sunnyvale at 10 years of age. For 27 years he worked in foundries, first at Bayside Foundry and later the San Jose Foundry. He and his wife, Agnes, moved to Alviso, where they operated a restaurant and laundro-mat, and he was chief of the volunteer fire department. The couple moved to Oroville in July 1974.
