Why you’ll love this BWW Parmesan Garlic Chicken Pasta recipe

  • Using the wing sauce is pretty much a kitchen hack to get a rich creamy sauce without all the added difficulty and nonsense. No roux, no scalding milk or cream- just a delicious sauce for chicken and pasta!
  • The whole recipe is so easy- even outside of the sauce hack. Cook the diced chicken or use pre-cooked rotisserie chicken, cook the penne, prep the sauce real quick, and mix it all up- you’re done!
  • Maybe you’ve seen this sauce and used it for wings. If you’re looking for another use for Buffalo Wild Wings Parmesan Garlic sauce, then this stovetop pasta recipe is a great place to start!

Ingredients

There’s nothing exotic needed for our Chicken Pasta recipe- Buffalo Wild Wing sauce bottles are pretty common now. In any case, here’s all you need:

Parmesan Garlic Chicken Pasta (5)
  • Chicken Breast – Cut this down into bite-sized pieces before starting this recipe
  • Heavy Cream
  • Buffalo Wild Wings Parmesan Garlic Sauce – This is the stuff that makes this recipe so tasty! It’s pretty much a creamy wing sauce packed with parmesan cheese, roasted garlic, and all sorts of Italian herbs.
  • Parmesan Cheese – We recommend reaching for an actual parmesan wedge instead of the canned stuff. It’ll taste much better and help the sauce come together easier.
  • Red Pepper Flake – This one is sort of optional: we loved how it tasted in our dish but there is already some in the Buffalo Wild Wings sauce. It ended up giving each bite of the finished chicken pasta a bit more spice and heat on the back end. If that doesn’t sound great to you, feel free to omit the added red pepper flakes.
  • Penne Pasta – Cooked and drained before you start the recipe, ideally.

See recipe card for quantities.

How to make Parmesan Garlic Chicken Pasta

Once you’ve got everything around for the chicken pasta, making it couldn’t be much simpler. To make this quick chicken dinner, here’s what to do:

Parmesan Garlic Chicken Pasta (6)
  1. Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper before cooking in skillet with olive oil over medium-high heat. Stir and turn occasionally about 5-7 minutes or until cooked through. Remove from pan and set aside.
  2. Add heavy cream and Buffalo Wild Wings sauce to pan and stir until well combined. Once sauce starts to boil, add in parmesan and red pepper flakes and stir until blended in.
  3. Add cooked chicken and pasta back into pan and give a quick stir and toss to coat. Reduce heat to medium-low and let cook until chicken and pasta have warmed through.

Substitutions

Are you having some trouble finding the ingredients for our Parmesan Garlic Chicken Pasta recipe? We’ve got a few substitutions you can give try:

  • Chicken Breast – Really, most boneless chicken cuts will work for this recipe. Feel free to sub in chicken thigh, chicken tenderloin, or even some pre-cooked rotisserie chicken- it might save you a bit of cooking time!
  • Heavy Cream – We used heavy cream in our chicken pasta recipe but you don’t have to use it. You can easily sub in some half-and-half or whole milk if that’s all you have or you’re trying to cut down on calories. Just know that your sauce might not be as rich and creamy as it could be!
  • PennePenne is a classic pasta shape that holds on to creamy sauces very well. Of course, there’s all sorts of other pasta shapes that you can use here. Stick with another tube-shaped pasta like rigatoni or ziti or go with a long flat pasta like fettuccine, tagliatelle, or linguine.

Variations

Looking for ways to mix this recipe up? Here’s a few to get you started:

  • Crockpot Garlic Parmesan Chicken Pasta – If you want a real hands-off recipe, you could try and make it in a Crockpot or slow cooker. There’s all sorts of recipes online, but you could keep it as simple as adding all of the ingredients here- minus the pasta- into the slow cooker and add the cooked penne when it’s all done.
  • Buffalo Wild Wings Chicken Pasta – While the BWW Parmesan Garlic Sauce is the best candidate for making a chicken pasta dish, what’s to stop you from trying a couple others? You could try amping up the garlic flavor by making a sauce from the Spicy Garlic Sauce. Maybe the Lemon Pepper Sauce has some promise too? Experiment and let us know how it works out!
  • Garlic Parmesan Chicken with Rice – You aren’t forced to serve this up with pasta. Another starch-y option that’ll work great is some rice.

Storage / Freezing

Storage: We really enjoyed this Parmesan Garlic Chicken Pasta and loved how it held up in the fridge! Transfer it to an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to 3-4 days. Reheat either in the microwave or on the stovetop with an added splash or two of milk or cream.

Freezing: Considering all the dairy, cheese, and cream in this recipe, you’ll have to be careful when freezing it all. Let cool and transfer to a freezer-safe container before freezing for 2-3 months. Let thaw in fridge before reheating and remember to add some milk or cream to help loosen that sauce back up after freezing!

Top tip

Be sure to check the internal temperature of the chicken has reached 165 degrees.
