What type of nuts can I use as a substitute?

If you do not have pecans, go ahead and substitute the nut of your choice in this fudge. You can use walnuts, macadamia, peanuts or whichever you prefer.

Can I leave the nuts out?

You do not need to add nuts to the recipe. The fudge will turn out fine with no nuts.

It takes about 5 minutes to make the fudge, once you reach the softball stage of boiling. That is simply when you drop a drop of the fudge into a glass of cold water. If it remains ball-shaped it is ready.

Ingredients:

  • Granulated sugar
  • Evaporated milk
  • Butter
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Large marshmallows
  • Chopped pecans
  • Vanilla extract

How to make Paula Deen’s 5-Minute Fudge:

Step 1. Add the sugar, add evaporated milk, and butter to a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil stirring often.

Step 2. Boil for 5 minutes.

Step 3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in the chocolate and marshmallows. Continue to stir until the marshmallows are completely melted.

Step 4. Mix in the vanilla extract.

Then, add the pecans.

Step 5. Layer in the bottom of a well-greased 9×9 baking dish and place into the fridge or freezer to set until hardened.
