Tips for the sauteed green peas recipe
These sauteed green peas with bacon take next to no time to prepare and make a fancy side dish or quick main course. Here are a few tips to make them even better:
- Bacon is pretty salty, so it should be enough to season the dish. No need to add more salt.
- You can use pancetta instead of bacon.
- Use finely sliced onion if you cannot get shallots.
- Make sure you buy “green peas” and not “petite green peas.” The latter tends to get mushy and won’t work well in this recipe.
How to cook frozen peas?
Cooking frozen peas is very easy. Frozen peas are parboiled or blanched peas and take less time to get cooked. Remove them from your freezer 10 to 15 minutes before you start cooking. You can also thaw green peas in a colander under running water for 2 minutes.
How long does it take to cook green peas?
Green peas are the soft seeds of the fruit located inside the pod. Green peas can be eaten raw, so they don’t take more than 5 minutes to cook in your skillet once bacon and shallot are ready.
How to keep green peas and bacon leftovers?
You can keep green peas and bacon leftovers in an airtight container in your refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a saucepan with a few drops of water to loosen the cooking juices.
