A dozen men donated their labor and five lumber and paint companies donated supplies to renovate the stairwell on the back of King Street Youth Center. "We had made a commitment when the brigade was first organized to do some work here," said carpenter Tom Perry. He participated in the Special Olympics where he was one of five chosen from Newport to be in a National Special Olympics Softball Tournament in South Bend, in which he placed second in the nation. His team avid all-around sportsman. He is survived by his father, Orleans County Sheriff James Murphy, and stepmother, Linda Murphy, both of Newport; his mother, Myrna Hazard of Villa Grove, two sisters, Mrs. Deborah Pratt Philo, and Penny Murphy of Newport; a brother, Patrick Murphy of. Newport; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Jessamine Murphy of Orleans; his maternal grandmother, Mrs.

Shirley Finlayson Granby, Quebec; uncle and an aunt, Steve and Nancy Murphy of North Troy; and another uncle, Garth Cook of Toronto, Ontario. 05859. MARGARET D. SHEILDS Margaret Sheilds, 81, 175 Green Acres Drive died Saturday, Nov. 14, 1987, at the Fanny Allen Hospital following a long illness. She had been a patient at the Green Mountain Nursing Home for several years.

She was born in Rutland on Oct. 4 4, 1906, the daughter of Charles J. and Sarah Ellen (Maloney) Daley, She was educated in the Rutland parochial schools. She was retired from the Internal Revenue Service after many years of service. She was a member of St.

Mark's Parish. She is survived by a sister, Madeline R. Wilson of Burlington; a nephew, Thomas Center; three nieces, Mary Dempsey of South Burlington, Jacqueline Daley of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Gloria Johnson of Minneapolis, also great-nephews and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Sheilds. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m.

Lila was the widow of Alfred J. Mayo who predeceased her in 1974. She is survived by one loving and thoughtful daughter, Doris (Mayo) Burnor of Colchester, who is going to miss her dearly, and one other daughter, Shirley Mayo Larrabee of Georgia, two sons, Alfred Mayo Jr. of Winooski and Stanley Mayo of Colchester; one sister, Rita Fortier of Williston; 17 grandchildren; 30 greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
