Everyone in my family loves pretzel – you know those types you have at the mall. Well we are STUCK in a snow storm here in Portland, OR so I decided to make this recipe for my family so they can get their pretzel fix. This recipe is BEYOND easy- this really is one that everyone in the family can make. Also this recipe is pretty healthy – the pretzels at the mall use melted butter I did not do that. I really do not think it hurt the taste by not having the butter.
Yep this is ALL you need – the magic of soft pretzels is the use of baking soda. That is what gives pretzels that wonderful taste. To make it even easier I use pre-made dough. Pizza dough works great and you really cannot tell the difference. For dipping sauces we use a honey mustard but cheese whiz is always a favorite.
If you do make my The Easiest Pretzel Bites Ever please make sure and comment and let me know what you think 🙂 Enjoy the recipe.

I’m going to make these, what is meant by a bath?
Dale Lillian Mills
When you put them into the baking soda water, it’s called a bath.. dropping them in all the way and get them out ..
You dont let them soak , just in and out ..probably in batches ..bits at a time

Can I use fresh pizza dough from Trader Joe’s?

Ariyana Kiaei

Denise
Hi, why such a large quantity of water and baking soda for amount of pretzels?
tracy
I did the math I think 1/3 cup of baking soda to 1 cup warm water
Dawn
These turned out great! Made some in bites and wrapped the rest around hot dogs and smoked sausages!
Dara
I just made these and my family devoured them. I will definitely make them again. Thanks!

I made these but want to know why the 1 and a third cup of soda. I couldn’t get the soda to dissolve all the way.
Judy
I couldn’t either!
Lauren
I’ve found if it’s not dissolving my water isn’t warm/hot enough. When you add the baking soda it should bubble and fizz.
Lea
These were good but I see no reason for the quart of water and 1 1/3 cup of baking soda. Just a waste.
My advice… cut the water/baking soda bath in half so you dont end up dumping it down the drain.
(Check other comments…they are asking why so much water/baking soda also…just not needed)
Otherwise, it’s a great, easy recipe that the kids love!Jenny
Totally agree. Wish I’d read the comments

I made these and the were a BIG hit with my family. I used Trader Joe’s pizza dough. I’ll cut down the water/baking soda next time. My only complaint is that I should have made more

They are fabulous everyone loves them

The bath was way too much baking soda but otherwise they smell delicious! Letting them cool now. They didn’t get very brown at first but that might be because I left them in the bath a bit too long instead of dipping them – I didn’t realize that until I read the comments just now – but I popped them back in for the full 12 minutes and they look gorgeous!

These are great! I’ve made them several times and my Grandchildren keep asking for them! I did have a problem with them sticking to the pan ( the first time) but since, have been using parchment paper that I lightly spray with PAM.
They’re very tasty! Thank you for this idea!Traci
These are amazing! I also cut down the baking soda bath. Instead if salt we used Everything Bagel Seasoning ! Fantastic! Dipped in cream cheese even better!!!

I recently lost 35 pounds and am now terrified that this recipe will be my new addiction! It’s absolutely spot-on! I immediately tossed the pretzel bites in a butter sauce just as they came out of the oven: a mixture of 2T butter, 1/3 C canola oil, and a few drops of butter extract—they tasted exactly as if I’d bought them from the mall. Today, I made them with fresh pizza dough from Publix’s bakery section—it was more chewy and lacked something, so I remedied it by tossing them in cinnamon sugar after the butter sauce. Thanks so much for this recipe–from now on, I’ll be sticking to the Pillsbury dough!

These were soooo perfect. I also made some with “everything bagel” seeds instead of just salt. We dipped in cheese sauce. A few lessons learned were to grease the pan and I made them slightly too big, smaller is better.
yvon
can someone please tell me what temperature to bake these on is recommended.
Denise
Recipe says preheated 350.
Travis
Not much taste when I made this. Smelled like pretzels. But not the flavor. Not sure what I did wrong
Emily
Omg they were amazing! Gotta make them smaller maybe but delicious!
Carole
I am anxious to make these. Approximately how big are the pieces you cut from the pizza dough?

How do I store these Pretzel Bites if I’m taking them to work? Or do they have to be eaten right away?
Julie
Sounds fun and easy. I do have a couple of questions. When tying the knots, do cut the dough in strips and tie in a knot? Dipping the dough in the soda made mixture, do you allow the dough to float or just a quick dip? Thank you
Christa
Where is everyone getting their rock salt! Is it rock salt for ice cream?
