and two free throws, Lee Snyder (50) made another field goal and Guard Dick Kowatch (44) added a free throw. The Oriole reserves took over the task in the last period and while outscored 14-9 looked fairly good. (34), Snyder and Dwayne Skooge (30) each scored for the Orioles but John Anderson pumped in three buckets for the Chippewas. The Ludington shooting record: Adams four out of nine, Rake two out of five, Kowatch none out of six, Johnson five out of 15, Tillotson 11 out of 18, Snyder two out of four, Skoog one out of two, Anderson none out of one, Dick Carr none out of five and John Garcia (24) none out of one. Coach Dan Evans' Jayvees made good on the promise they have shown all season with a 38-26 win over the Manistee reserves. After a pretty dismal season to date, four losses against one lone win, the Junior Varsity clicked on all fronts at The Gym Friday night. Their shooting was good, their defense better and the passing attack was little short of terific, being both fast and accurate. Ludington grabbed an early lead lead, 11-7 at the end of the first quarter, then 19-9 at the half and 33-15 at the end of the third when Evans put in the reserves. Ludington's scoring column was well balanced with Bob Keneipp, Rog Hansen and Bob Heemstra having six each while Fred Boals had five and Bill Keneipp and Mitch Johnson four apiece.
Johnny Hogen was high for Manistee while Bill Markham and Bruce Martin had six each. 4 STAR THEATRE SCOTTVILLE Last Times Tonight Two Shows Double Feature Program "SIREN OF BAGDAD" (Technicolor) COMMANDO" -Plus Two Cartoons SUNDAY MONDAY Matinee Sunday 3.00 p. m. and Continuous Double Feature Program Kathryn Grayson Abel in "SO THIS IS LOVE" (Technicolor) LEGS" With Hirsch- -Plus Lloyd Nolan Color Cartoon News Oilers, Cards Win N-C Games NORTH CENTRAL LEAGUE STANDINGS Pet. Jerry Brown of Montague, a 6'8" center, broke Hart's Ben Leisberg's 1949 'scoring mark of 30 points with a 32-point production but the little Pirate sharpshooters ground out a 70-51 triumph at Hart Friday. North Muskegon erased an early Scottville lead by holding the Spartans scoreless for all but the last 45 seconds of the third period and eventually won 39-34. In the other game Whitehall came from behind to win 54-47 over Shelby and dig themselves out of the league basem*nt. Hart held a 33-27 lead at the half and 52-43 edge going into the last frame in a game in which both teams ignored each other's defense. Bob Grady with 20 and Dave Snell with 18 led the Pirates.
Shelby built up a 17-4 first period edge and was leading 27-20 at the half when Whitehall's Ron White and Carl Swenson took over to pace the Vikings to an 18-7 margin over the Tigers in the third period and a 16-13 edge in the last period. White ended up with 12, Swenson cight and Ron Olson 10 for Whitehall. Norm Schultz had 14 and Jack Kocher and Terry Bears each had 12 for Shelby. Giardello 23-year-old Philadelphia middleweight, ranked No.
3 challenger to champion Bobo Olson showed surprising punching power in stopping Garth Panter, rugged Salt Lake City boxer, in 1:16 of at Madison Square Garden. It was the first time in Panter's 67-bout career had failed to last the route. her claimed he never had been knocked down. Although Garth was hammered half through the ropes and driven around the ring by Joey's right hand barrage, he didn't go down. Referee Al Berl made it a technical kayo when he wisely called a halt.
Even Giardello was surprised at the TKO, his first in the Garden and 14th in 62 bouts. Giardello, of course, is the only fighter who holds a Supreme Court decision over Bob Christenberry, New York State Athletic Commission chairman. That happened a year ago when the court reversed Christenberry's reversed decision to give him the nod over Billy Graham. Naturally, Joey wants Olson next. But he won't get him.
Bobo has a tentative date with welter champion Kid Gavilan at Chicago, in April. Matchmaker Billy Brown of the Garden has Giardello pencilled in for A Feb. 5 date with Jocy Giambra of Buffalo, N. Y. They have fought twice, each winning one.

From the nation's leading laboratories and universities, aided by March of Dimes grants, have come: 1. An experimental polio vaccine-the value of which may become much clearer in 1954. 2.
